1. LEAD CAR: The lead car MUST be able to pass Tech as if it was an Enduro car. Open to any North American car, 2 door, 4 door or station wagon. - Any size motor is allowed “Drive what you bring” 2. SECOND AND THIRD CARS: Minimum roll cage is mandatory.
2a. BODY APPEARANCE: Body must be stock appearing, in stock position on frame on stock rubber mounts. All mouldings, ornaments, door handles, glass, and plastic components must be removed except grill and windshield. Trunk lid panels, hood panels and roof panels must remain stock (no gutting or trimming). No aluminum body panels. Inner door panels must be stock. Stock spoilers only. No hood scoops or ground effect skirts. If door skins or fenders are replaced with body steel, they must be stock appearing. Race cars participating in racing events must be complete, stock appearing and presentable at all times. The Technical Committee at any event may reject cars that are considered improperly prepared. Cars that are considered unsafe to driver, competitors, staff or fans will be rejected and not allowed on the track. No shortening or lengthening of cars
2b. BRAKES: Stock front brakes in good working condition are compulsory and are subject to test and inspection. Pedal must be in original position. All three cars must have working brakes.
2c. BUMPERS: Bumpers are required and must be present and secure at the start of each heat and feature. Bumpers must be mounted in stock position/height. Safety chains recommended. Pickup truck/van bumpers (excluding step bumpers) or other car bumpers may be used. Homemade bumpers are subject to approval and must be covered with a stock bumper cover. No sharp edges on bumpers. Ends must be turned in. If stock bumper cover is removed, sharp edges must be removed.
2d. DOORS: Must be welded or bolted securely. Doors must not be cut down.
2e. FIRE SAFETY/CONTROL: Cars must have an approved fire extinguisher mounted in a secure mounting bracket and within driver's reach with seat belts fastened. Fire extinguisher must have a gauge and if the extinguisher is older than three years, it must have a recharge slip dated within two years. All lead cars must have two kill switches one on each side of the vehicle that are within reach of the safety crew. Kill switches are to be clearly marked ON/OFF. A driver's racing suit with a recommended rating of SFI 3.2A/1 or better is mandatory for all lead car drivers. Treated coveralls or a complete driver's racing suit is mandatory for the second and third car driver.
Flame Retardant Solution - 6oz Boric acid, one-gallon water, 9 oz Borax. Soak in the above solution for 30 minutes. Allow to drip dry.
2f. INTERIOR: All flammable material must be removed except drivers seat and stock dash (dash optional). A solid bucket seat with a good side support or racing seat must be used and must be securely mounted. Seat must be positioned completely to the left of the centerline of the car. Aluminum racing seats are highly recommended. Fibreglass racing seats are not recommended and if used they must be in good condition and have a steel frame which prevents seat breakage. A solid headrest is mandatory and is subject to test. Interiors must be vacuumed out, free off glass, screws, rivets and other debris. 2g. PAINT AND LETTERING: All cars must be neatly and brightly painted. Numbers assigned by the Track must be painted legibly on both sides of car and on roof in min. 24” high and 2” wide. Numbers to be read from right side in a color offering distinct contrast to the color of the car. No trick numbers. No foil numbers.
2h. ROLL CAGE: A full Street Stock roll cage is recommended for all train cars. The minimum cage that will be accepted is an Enduro cage (shown in the diagram) with a minimum of 2 driver's side door bars and 2 driver's side exterior scrub rails. When the Enduro cage is used on unibody cars, the driver's door bars must be attached to the sub-frame or the front of the door bars must be securely bolted through the door to the scrub rails. The cage must be constructed of minimum 1-3/4” O.D. .095” wall tubing. If a full cage is used and only 1 door bar is used on driver's side then 2 exterior scrub rails are mandatory. The scrub rails must extend a minimum of 6” past the front and rear of the driver's door and be constructed of a minimum 1-1/2” diameter or square with a minimum .125” wall thickness. Unibody cars must have a 12” X 12” X 3/16” plate under the uprights and support bars, or the uprights must be attached to the sub frame. Unibody cars must also have a bar running horizontally between the rear uprights at floor level. Minimum 3” clearance recommended between drivers helmet and overhead roll bars. All welds must be electric or mig welded. No pipe fittings allowed. No heating of tubing to form bends. All joints must have gussets. 2i. RACING SEAT BELTS: Seat belts are mandatory. Seat belts must be securely mounted to the roll cage. If lap or sub belts cannot be securely mounted to the frame, original mounts or cage, then 3" washers must be used on the mounts to prevent pull through. All bolts mounts must be double nutted. Ensure that belts are not pinched when mounting them.
2j. SAFETY HELMET: A Snell approved racing safety helmet must be worn in all practice and race events and until car is parked in pit area. Minimum Snell M95 or newer.
2k. WINDSHIELD AND WINDOWS: All windows must be removed except full front windshield. Windshield must be safety glass, Lexan or heavy gage wire mesh. If Lexan or wire mesh is used, two safety bars must be installed. If the windshield mounding is removed, four windshield-retaining clips must be installed. Driver's window net with quick release is mandatory.
3. DRIVERS: All drivers must be registered at the Pit Shack so we know who is in what car.
4. COMMUNICATION: Electronic means of communication is allowed between the lead and last car only.
5. JOINING OF CARS: All three cars must be joined together by chain leaving no more then 3 feet between each car. 6. MIRRORS: Only one mirror allowed and it must be inside the vehicle.
7. QUALIFIED CARS: Teams my not borrow any lead car, and their lead car must race in the feature, or scratch it for the night. Second and third cars can be replaced with properly prepared cars throughout the race event. You can not use another completely new set of trains.
NOTE: The interpretation of rules will be solely up to the judgement of the officials in change and official's decision will be final. Any part of car not specifically covered must remain stock. Stock parts are those found in model/year O.E.M. Parts book.
