1. BODY STYLE: Any style steel, fibreglass or aluminum, deemed by officials to resemble an open wheel modified.
2. BODY APPEARANCE: Any wing or spoiler will be allowed only if it is no higher than 16” above roof. Cars must have roof with pillars, which cover the roll cage and is attached to the windshield frame. Cars must have a hood which covers the motor and rad. Front wheels must be open body style. Rear wheels must not stick out past nerf bars or scrub rails. Race cars participating in racing events must be presentable in appearance at all times. The Technical Committee at any event may reject cars that are considered improperly prepared. Race cars must be complete at the beginning of each event. Any cars considered unsafe to driver, competitors, staff or fans will be rejected and not allowed on the track. Cars must be equipped with a hook-up point front and rear to pick up the car. Maximum height of spoiler from ground to top of spoiler is 48”. Spoiler sides and supports may extend forward only to the rear of the drivers window opening. Supports may extend from the top of the spoiler forward and taper down to the rear quarter panel. You must be able to see over or through rear spoiler (Lexan). No sideboard wings. Roof wings must be fastened to roll cage.
3. BATTERY: Must be anchored securely and outside the driver's compartment. Battery must be mounted between the frame rails and no lower than the frame rails. A battery disconnect switch is mandatory and should be located behind the race seat in the driver's window or in the centre of the dash.
4. BRAKES: All four wheels must stop when brakes are applied during test and inspection. Four wheel discs allowed. Dual master cylinder with balance bar allowed. No aluminum brake parts. Howe calliper mounts allowed for rear brakes only. Aluminum master cylinders and aluminum brake hats are allowed.
5. BUMPERS: Front bumper may be past frame only 2” on each side. Front and rear bumpers must be a minimum of 13” and a maximum of 17” from the ground to centre of bumper. Front bumper must be double bumper style. Rear bumper must be double bumper style or have a hoop underneath original bumper style. Double side scrub rails are highly recommended. They should be close together at the front and widen out to approximately 12” at the back. All bumpers and side rails must have rounded corners. The rear bumper shall not be wider than the body. If the body does not cover the rear wheels, a nerf bar should extend outward and forward from the rear bumper to within 1” of the outside of the rear wheel and then return to the frame.
6. CARBURETOR: One holley 650 cfm # 04777c or 600 cfm # 04776c or 500 cfm # R4412 factory produced two or four barrel carb . The only changes allowed are jet, power valve, and removal of choke parts. Two throttle return springs and stop are mandatory. Track may exchange carb.for carb. Must have air cleaner. Maximum 6” high filter element. Metering block numbers 5924 or 5925 only. Filling choke rod hole allowed. Throttle pedal must have a return bar above the toe so that when the foot is lifted it forces the throttle closed. SPACER 1.250" MAXHEIGHT WITH GASKET.
7. CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION: Any passenger or fully fabricated tubular frames must be .095” thick and measure 10” circumference. If 2X3 tubing is used, the 3” dimension must be in vertical position. Frame must be steel, no holes drilled for lightening purposes. Rack and pinion allowed. Racing shocks allowed but with only one shock per wheel. No high-pressure gas or aluminum body shocks allowed. Load bolts and rated springs are allowed. Rear springs must be minimum 4-1/2” O.D. Coil-over spring setups allowed on front only (any size springs that fit your set up). Coil over eliminators are allowed on the rear. After market spindles are allowed but they must take the stock rotor. The maximum track width measured 3” from the ground, from outside of tire to outside of tire is 80”. Wheelbase is optional but must be within 1” from side to side. Frame height must be a minimum of 4” at the lowest point without driver (cross member excepted). There will only be one lift allowed to relieve settling. The rest of the front clip is open.
8. DRIVE LINE: Must have steel 360 degree retaining hoops 1/4”x 2” positioned at the front and rear of the drive shaft within 6” of each universal joint. No chains retaining hoops. Steel drive shafts only, no aluminum or fibreglass drive shafts. Drive shafts must be painted white.
9. ENGINE: Must be centred in frame (Maximum 1” left of centre) and be a minimum of 72” from centre of rear end to flywheel face. CHEV: 350 SMALL BLOCK ONLY FORD: 351 WINDSOR ONLY CHRY: 360 ONLY Engine must retain factory stock specifications for bore, stroke and rod length of engine used.eg-(chev must use 5.7 rod only). Stock, or aftermarket stock type replacement crank only and must be stock weight with no knife edgeing ect. Maximum overbore is .060”. Block must measure minimum 0” from top of pistons. Flat top or dished pistons only. Polished rods allowed. Spec after market rods will be allowed. Reworked pistons allowed. No roller cams. Rocker arm ratio must be to engine manufacturer. Screw in studs or pinning is allowed. Rocker locks and guide plates are allowed. Roller rockers and stud girdles are allowed along with 7/16” rocker studs. . No porting, polishing or matching of head to intake or exhaust. No aluminum cylinder blocks or heads. No titanium, hollow or lightweight valves.

FOR ENGINE USED, CHEV: .840", FORD: .875", CHRYSLER: .910".. INTAKE: Edelbrock Performer - Chevy # 2101 or SAME INTAKE AS CRATE ENGINE or Z116 PERFORMER. Windsor # 2181 and Chrysler # 2176. Must remain as manufactured. No paint on intake. Older design Edelbrock Performer not allowed.
COMPRESSION RULE: COLD ENGINE WHISTLE TEST MAX COMP RATIO – 10.1:1 ENGINE HOT WHISTLE NUMBERS TO BE DEDTERMINED Varney Motor Speedway may use any tools necessary to ensure compliance of these engine rules.
10. ENGINE TEAR DOWN: Varney Motor Speedway reserves the right to one free tear down during the current racing season. If engine is found to be illegal, Varney Motor Speedway will get another free tear down later. Only a competing driver of the All Pro Modified division of that event has the right to fill out a protest form to have an engine torn-down for the sum of $150.00. The driver putting up the $150.00 must remain at the track until the tear-down has been completed, which must be started within one hour of the completion of the Feature Race. If the engine is found illegal $75.00 will be returned to the person who made the protest, and Track management will assess the penalties. If the engine is found legal, $75.00 will go to the driver being protested. Cash must be presented to Track management before the start of the Feature Race. A cam check is not considered to be a tear down. Penalties may include confiscating illegal parts and loss of 100 points and money. Refusal of tear down will result in disqualification and penalties as assessed by Track management.
11. EXHAUST: Corvette manifolds or headers may be used. Up and over allowed. No 180-degree headers allowed. If headers are homemade they must down draft a minimum of 2” below ports before they may rise again. Exhaust must exit outside of the body and under 18” high. Exhaust must extend rearward to within one foot of the front of the driver's seat and must be turned outward. Flo Pro FP300 mufflers or Dynamax or approved muffler with baffles by Track Tech.
12. FIRE SAFETY/CONTROL: Cars must have a minimum 2 lb fire extinguisher mounted in a secure mounting bracket and within driver's reach with seat belts fastened. Fire extinguisher must have a gauge and if the extinguisher is older than three years, it must have a recharge slip dated within two years. Onboard type fire extinguisher recommended. Car will not be permitted to race with fuel leaks. All oil leaks are to be dealt with promptly. Race Apparel: A driver's racing suit with a rating of SFI 3.2A/5 or better is mandatory. A driver's racing suit with a rating of SFI 3.2A/1 will be accepted if in good condition and Nomex underwear is worn. Nomex underwear and balaclava recommended. Gloves are mandatory with a recommended rating of SFI 3.3/1 or better but leather or “Mechanix” gloves will be accepted. Race shoes with a recommended rating of SFI 3.3/5 or better are mandatory. Nomex socks are mandatory. A neck collar/helmet support with a recommended rating of SFI 3.3 or better is mandatory. All race apparel must be in good, clean condition. If Nomex underwear is not used then any garments worn under the race suit should be cotton (no polyester shirts or pants allowed).
13. FIRE WALLS AND FLOOR: All fire walls and floor in driver's area must be minimum 22 gauge steel. (Includes front, back, and right side floor to tunnel). All fire walls must seal.
14. FUEL: Cars may use street legal pump gas with no additives allowed or you may use the racing fuel available from Varney Motor Speedway with no additives allowed. Cars may be disqualified if they are caught using any fuel or additives that make their fuel any stronger than what is available from Varney Motor Speedway. No NOS allowed.
15. FUEL PUMP/LINES: Mechanical pump only, absolutely no electric fuel pumps. Neoprene or steel gas line must be securely fastened under floor or inside steel conduit. Steel or high pressure neoprene fuel lines only on the pressure side of the fuel pump (steel fuel filter allowed). No glass or plastic fuel filters.
16. FUEL CELL: An approved fuel cell with a recommended rating of SFI 28.1 is mandatory. Fuel cells must be encased in a minimum 22 gauge steel box. The fuel cell must be securely mounted in trunk compartment between the frame rails (no notching of rails allowed) and behind the rear axel. The bottom of the steel box enclosing the fuel cell must be mounted no lower than any portion of the rear axle tube with the driver in the car. Two steel hoops under the fuel cell are recommended to protect the cell. Fuel cell must have rear hoop bar for protection. Fuel must not leak from fuel cell if car is over turned. Fuel cell cap must seal and vent lines must have a check valve. Fuel cell cap must be tethered to the car. Fuel cell filler neck must be grounded to the car.
17. IGNITION: Stock single point distributor or stock electronic ignition allowed. Battery operated ignitions only. MSD box allowed, 6A, 6AL or Mopar # ( ). Coils, rotor, cap, and module may be changed. Car must be self-starting and have two ignition kill switch, one on each side. Kill switch must be painted red and clearly marked ON and OFF.
18. INTERIOR: Race seat must be used, bolted or welded to frame/cage. Seat must be positioned completely to the left of the centreline of the car. Aluminum racing seats are mandatory. Headrest is mandatory. Oil pressure and heat gauges mandatory. (Oil pressure line must be steel or braided line only).
19. PAINT AND LETTERING: All cars must be neatly and brightly painted. Numbers assigned by the Track must be clearly legibly on both sides of car and on roof in minimum 18” high and 2” wide. Numbers to be read from right side in a colour offering distinct contrast to the colour of the car. No trick numbers. No foil numbers. All cars must have their number in white (minimum 3” high) on upper right hand corner of the windshield for line-up purposes.
20. RADIATOR: Any rad may be used. Electric fans allowed. If using stock fan, it should be shrouded for protection. A one gallon liquid overflow can is mandatory. No antifreeze allowed. Aluminum rads allowed.
21. REAR ENDS: Stock type production rear ends. Floaters are allowed. Spool or mini spool only. No quick change allowed. Any three-point hook up may be used not exceeding 30” centre to centre on mounting holes. No springs or shocks in or on trailing arms or top link. Rubber pucks may be used. No Detroit lockers, or gold tracks. No cambered axle tubes. Steel or aluminum hubs. No wide 5 hubs or rims.
22. ROLL CAGE: Cage must be constructed of 1-3/4” minimum outside diameter by .095” wall thickness round steel tubing. Front and rear roll bars must be connected at top and bottom and on both sides at seat height. Sidebars are compulsory and driver's side must extend into panels (minimum. 4 bars on left and 3 on right). All welds must have gussets of no less than .125” thickness. No pipe fittings allowed. Roll bars in driver's area must be padded with foam rubber with a recommended rating of SFI 45.1 or better. Left leg protection bar must be installed between the roll cage and left front frame rail. Main frame rail must have a minimum perimeter of 10” by .095” wall thickness extending from clip to rear suspension. Driver's side frame must be built out to the side of the car. Roll bars must be mounted on top of the frame. Right side frame may be no closer to the centre of the car than the inside edge of the front stub used. Right side roll cage must go out or straight up to window level before it may be angled in towards the driver's area. Window level is considered to be minimum 15” above top of frame on new cars built.
23. RACING BELTS/HARNESS: Racing belts/harness are mandatory. Minimum 3” four point harness with one lap belt set and two shoulder belts. Five or six point harness including sub belt with SFI 16.1 rating is recommended. Shoulder belts must be securely mounted to the roll cage. Lap and crotch belts must be mounted to the roll cage or seat mount. All mount bolts must be use self-locking nuts or be double nutted. Mount bolts should be grade 8 or better and should match the hole size of the belt anchor. Ensure that belts are not pinched when mounting them. Belts shall be mounted so that they are clear of sharp edges. Belts shall be mounted so that the belt anchors are in line with the direction of pull. Seat belts must be dated within the past three years (at the start of the race season) and in good condition.
24. SAFETY HELMET: A well fitting safety helmet in good condition must be worn in all practice and race events and until car is parked in pit area. Snell SA2000 helmet mandatory.
25. TIRES: Track tires are mandatory, which are available at the Pit Shack at Varney Motor Speedway.
26. TRANSMISSION: Stock type automatic transmissions. Cooler is highly recommended. No coolers allowed in driver's compartment. Transmission lines must be steel or neoprene transmission line or hydraulic line. Torque converter must be a minimum 10” body and functional with no modifications. No valves and no direct drive. No after market planetaries allowed. Stock type 3 or 4 speed standard transmission allowed.must have steel bell housing. Stock type steel single disc clutch and pressure plate only. Min. 10’’. Stock type steel flywheel only with no modifications allowed. Min flywheel weight 14lbs.
27. WHEELS: Must be racing rims. Maximum width 8”. Mag style tape-on wheel weights only, installed on the flat of the rim.
28. WINDSHIELD/WINDOWS: Lexan windshield in front of driver compulsory. It must be able to deflect any debris or oil that might enter the driver's compartment from the front and right front area. Driver’s window net mandatory with recommended rating of SFI 37.1. Must have top release. Minimum 3/8” tubing.
29. WEIGHT: 2700 lbs. With driver after race completion. No topping up of fuel after race, prior to weighing. All ballast weight must be mounted safely and securely to the frame rails and maintain a minimum 4" ground clearance. All weights must be labelled with car number and painted white. Added weights must be in block form in no less than 5 lb blocks and must use self-locking nuts, double nutted or drilled and wired, on ½" or better mounting bolts.
30. RADIO COMMUNICATION: One-Way radio is mandatory. Only track-approved radios will be permitted. NOTE: The interpretation of rules will be solely up to the judgement of the officials in charge and official's decision will be final. Any part of car not specifically covered must remain stock. Stock parts are those found in model / year O.E.M. Parts book.

By making application for a competitor permit, it is deemed that the competitor agrees to become familiar with these regulations and abide by the directions set forth and prescribed by Varney Motor Speedway. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication of, or compliance with these rules and / or specifications.
